About the Western Invasives Network

Harding Grass

The Western Invasives Network has been designed to promote and enhance the identification and management of invasive species in the Pacific Northwest. The network was originally designed as a tool to disseminate information related to problem invaders located in the six Cooperative Weed Management Areas (CWMA) that comprise the Northwest Weed Management Partnership (NWMP).

The WIN network also focused on providing materials and resources needed to promote and establish Early Detection and Rapid Response programs through the region. This program sought to enhance invasive species management in the Pacific Northwest by leveraging the participation of concerned citizens to identify emergent population of known invaders before they become a greater problem.

As the WIN has progressed it has grown and developed to fill a vital niche in the management of invasive species in the Pacific Northwest. The WIN aims to provide a conduit for promoting communication and dialogue between all citizens and organizations concerned with invasive species management and policy. Our online forum and news and events page provide an opportunity to extend the discussion of invasive species between disparate organization and interests.
