The Partners in Prevention Initiative
Partners in Prevention is a unique partnership between Western Invasive Network and students and teachers of McMinnville High School and South Eugene High School, which engages and involves students in the early detection and prevention initiative. Not only does this partnership facilitate more awareness of invasive plants and the importance of their early detection, but it also enhances the education of the students involved in the project by allowing them to be a part of a “real-world” scientific and social initiative. As part of the partnership, science students have assisted with the development of the website's content, and students of the SouthTECH program designed and built this web site and will continue to contribute through its maintenance.
The following fact sheets were written by students of teacher Jared Larson's honors biology class/AP Environmental Studies class.
Chinese Silver GrassHerb Robert by Caitlin Van Patten
Shining Geranium by Ashley Anderson and Kelly Leslie
Water primrose willow by Kelly Leslie and Mitchell Van Hoef
Western Invasive Network would also like to recognize the following students in SouthTech for their contribution in the design and construction of this website
Jacob Nicholson - web design and development
Michael Beardsworth - PHP programming
Dorothy Siemens - logo development
Mary Ditson, southTECH faculty advisor/teacher.
Thanks for your leadership and coordination of web site development!
